How SoundServe works

Finding a musician should not depend on who happens to be in your WhatsApp group. Here is how booking through SoundServe works, start to finish.

Booking a musician

  1. Step 1: Search

    Choose the instrument or performer type, your location and the event date. We only show musicians who are actually free.

  2. Step 2: Compare

    Every profile shows experience, genres, church and event history, packages, starting prices and reviews — so you can compare properly rather than guessing.

  3. Step 3: Request or book

    Send your event details in a single form. Musicians with instant booking enabled confirm immediately; others review and respond.

  4. Step 4: Confirm and communicate

    Agree timings, soundcheck, order of service and setlist. Everything about the engagement stays in one place.

  5. Step 5: Pay securelyComing soon

    Marketplace payments are being introduced, so money is held safely and released to the musician once the engagement is complete.

  6. Step 6: Complete and review

    After the event both sides mark the booking complete and you can leave a review — which only customers with a completed booking can do.

Common questions

Does it cost anything to send a booking request?
No. Searching and sending booking requests is free. When marketplace payments launch, a small service fee will be shown clearly before you pay — never added afterwards.
What if the musician cancels?
Cancellation terms are shown to both sides before a booking is confirmed. If a musician cancels, we help you find a replacement — short-notice cover is one of the main reasons SoundServe exists.
Are musicians DBS checked?
Some are, and their profile will say so. DBS is relevant for certain church and youth contexts but is not required for every engagement, so we show it as a badge rather than pretending it is universal. You can filter for it if your setting calls for it.
Is SoundServe the employer of these musicians?
No. Musicians on SoundServe are independent and self-employed. SoundServe is the marketplace that introduces you and facilitates the booking. The engagement itself is a contract between you and the musician.
Can we book the same musician regularly?
Yes. Many churches book the same dep for a recurring slot. Recurring bookings and preferred musician rosters are on the roadmap to make this easier.
What if we need a whole band, not one player?
Search the 'Full band' category. Bands list complete packages covering drums, bass, keys, guitar and vocals in a single booking.
